The Microsoft (Office) 365 Calendar app is an online application in Microsoft 365. Calendar can be used to create events, such as personal appointments or meetings.
Before You Begin
The Illinois State University Microsoft 365 Calendar app is available in Microsoft 365 to students, faculty, staff, and annuitants who have migrated to Microsoft 365 email.

Microsoft 365 Calendar
Students, faculty, staff, and annuitants can utilize the Calendar app to create events, such as personal appointments or meetings.
All Illinois State University members will be able to see each other’s calendars and schedule appointments or meetings.
Note
If you add a personal appointment, and you do not wish for anyone with whom you share your calendar to see that appointment, be sure to mark it as “Private” by checking the box next to Private.
Microsoft 365 Calendar Basics
- View Your Calendar
To view your Calendar, do the following:
- Log in to Microsoft 365 at 365.IllinoisState.edu via Central Login.

- The calendar will open the current month, which is the default view.
- The Agenda for the day is listed on the right side of the calendar. When you select a day on the calendar, the agenda will change to show the day selected.
- To change the view to Day or Week, click the appropriate link above your Agenda. On the left side of the pane are a list of other calendars, yours and others’ that have been shared with you. You can choose to view these in addition to your own calendar.
- Click any Event on the calendar to see a quick view of that event.

Note
- An event created by you will show you as the creator and have a link to edit or delete the event.
- A meeting that you’ve been invited to will show the organizer and include links to respond to the invitation.
- Add Events
You can add events to your Microsoft 365 Calendar, such as a personal appointment, a birthday, or a meeting. You can invite attendees to an event or meeting. If you invite others to your event, they will receive invitation emails which allow them to accept or decline the invitation. Please refer to:

If you are inviting an instructor and/or professor to a meeting, remember to review their advertised office hours and be courteous of their time.
After you complete the event and send it, your attendees will receive an email, which includes buttons they can use to accept or decline your invitation.
You can track the status of your attendees’ responses by viewing the Attendees section of the Details page.
- Modify Events and Meetings
- You can modify an event by selecting the event and clicking Edit.
- To delete an appointment, select the appointment and click Delete, or right-click on the item and select Delete.
- To delete a meeting you created, right-click on the meeting and select Cancel.
- To delete yourself from a meeting you are invited to, right-click on the meeting, select Delete and then select the appropriate option.
- Manage Your Microsoft 365 Calendar Visibility
You can change whether your calendar will be visible to the campus community or if a particular individual needs to view full calendar details rather than the default view of Free/Busy. Please refer to Managing your Microsoft 365 Calendar Visibility.
