Before You Arrive
Last modified 8/16/2023
Setting up your devices for the first time on campus can go much smoother with a little bit of preparation. Here are a few simple steps you can take before you arrive on campus:
- Bring an Ethernet cable for your media devices and gaming consoles. Printers should also be connected via cable, rather than wireless, in the residence halls.
- Make sure your computer has all the latest updates by turning on automatic updates.
Info
Network devices such as wireless routers are not permitted in the residence halls. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) access is restricted. Certain exceptions may apply (see Getting Connected).
Downloading Microsoft 365
As part of Microsoft 365, you are entitled to download and install the latest version of Microsoft Office on up to five devices. If you already have the latest version of Microsoft Office, you do not need to download the software again. The Technology Support Center encourages you to download Microsoft Office before arriving to campus, so you are ready for the first day of classes.
