Setting a Default Calendar on iOS Device
Last modified 10/4/2024
If you have more than one calendar on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, you can specify one of your calendars to be the default.
Before You Begin
For best results, update your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad to the latest version. For more information, refer to Apple's support article on Updating Your iPhone or iPad.
If you have more than one calendar on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, you can specify one of your calendars to be the default. When you use the calendar app to create a new event, it will be placed on the default calendar.
To set a default calendar on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, use the following steps:
- Press Settings → Mail → Contacts → Calendars.
- Locate the section labeled Calendars.
- Press Default Calendar.
If you do not see Default Calendar in the Calendars section, this means your device only has one installed calendar. - Select the calendar you want to set as the default calendar for your device.
- Press Mail... at the top of the screen to return to the previous page.
Your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad is now configured with the default calendar you specified.
Note:
It is still possible to add new events to the other calendars on your device. When you use the calendar app to create a new event, select the calendar onto which you would like to add the event. By default, the event will be added to your default calendar.
