Do not disturb is a feature on mobile devices that silences incoming calls and notifications. This can be used to ensure that a phone will not ring during periods of time during which you do not want to be disturbed, such as during a meeting, presentation, or at night. With advanced configuration, it is possible to set up exceptions to Do Not Disturb. This way, you can ensure that even in Do Not Disturb, you still receive critical calls and communications.

Setting Do Not Disturb

To turn on Do Not Disturb in iOS:

1. Open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the “crescent moon” symbol.  
   2a. Alternatively, you can go to Settings →  Do Not Disturb.
   

Review the Following Settings available under Do Not Disturb:

• Do Not Disturb: Toggles the setting ON or OFF.
• Scheduled: Enables Do Not Disturb automatically at the set times.
• Silence: Has two settings.  
  • Always means that Do Not Disturb will always apply.  
  • While iPhone is locked will configure Do Not Disturb to not apply when the iPhone is not locked. 
• Allow Calls From: Manages exceptions that will be able to call you during Do Not Disturb.  You can use this setting to allow calls from everyone, no one, favorites, or specific contact groups.
• Repeated Calls: Allows a call through if the same phone number calls you more than once within three minutes.
