Below you will find links to software offered through Illinois State University. When downloading software choose to Save the file to a familiar location, such as your desktop. After the download completes, locate the file where you saved it and launch it. 

If you receive a Security warning that states, “The publisher could not be verified,” click Run.

Avira Anti-Virus for Mac 

Download Avira Anti-Virus for Mac 

Avira is the recommended anti-virus product for MacOS. 

Cherwell Desktop Client 

Download the Cherwell Desktop Client 

Use the Cherwell Desktop Client to manage incidents, service requests, configuration items, knowledge articles, and more. Available for university IT staff only. 

Warning

The Cherwell Desktop Client is only available for Windows devices. 


Cisco AnyConnect VPN 

Windows | Mac 

VPN is a software that allows for a secure connection between your computer and some restricted Illinois State University resources. 

Warning

VPN is not required to access commonly used resources such as email, ReggieNet, or Microsoft 365

Some resources that require VPN include: 

  • Connecting to network drives 
  • Viewing paychecks in iPeople 
  • Accessing databases 

 

Cisco Jabber 

Windows | Mac 

Cisco Jabber is a messaging application for faculty and staff who are licensed for its use with the campus unified communications initiative. 

Cisco Jabber requires access to be granted prior to use. If you receive the following error on login please submit a Jabber Access request Here. 

Cisco Standalone Umbrella Client

Windows | Mac 

Cisco Standalone Umbrella client is a software that protects DNS security on your device. 

Note

This is a requirement for remote work for faculty/staff and this client is for personal devices only.  Any ISU devices needing Umbrella can be done by IT support teams using SCCM.

This software is not required for students and faculty/staff using their personal devices to connect to ISU resources from off campus not in a work capacity. 


Lab Utilities 

Download 

This software is to be installed on computers in the campus computer labs. It contains the Log Off utility, the iSaver screen saver, and the Map Network Drives utility. 

Warning

To use these lab utilities, you must install the latest version of .NET Framework. Use the typical install option to install all three lab utilities. Use the custom install option to install only selected lab utilities. 

Respondus LockDown Browser 

Windows | Mac 

Use Respondus LockDown Browser to take ReggieNet assessments from a locked browser. This download is available for students who have an assessment in ReggieNet that requires the use of LockDown Browser. 

uPrint (Pharos) 

Pharos uPrint allows users to print from anywhere on campus and pick up their print jobs at a designated uPrint Release Station. No software is required to use uPrint. The uPrint web portal can be accessed at https://uprint.illinoisstate.edu/ 

VPN Profile 

Mac | iPhone 

Install the VPN profile for your operating system or device to access restricted resources at Illinois State University 

(Mac) For instructions, please refer to Install and Connect Using the VPN Profile for MacOS 

(iOS) You must download this file using Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch. For instructions, refer to Install and Connect With the VPN Profile for iOS

Zoom Client 

The Zoom client allows you to host and join meetings from your desktop. This download is available to current faculty, staff, and students.
