Sending and Receiving Faxes in RightFax

You can use the RightFax web and desktop clients to send faxes.
Before You Begin
RightFax is a digital faxing solution that allows you to send faxes to a fax machine or a recipient’s email address.
You must have a RightFax account before sending faxes. For more information, see RightFax.
Sending a Fax using the Web Client
To send a fax in RightFax with the web client, do the following:
- Log in to Fax.IllinoisState.edu via Central Login.
- For more information about Central Login at ISU, please refer to: Central Login
Alternatively, you may need to log in with adilstu\ULID and password.
When you are prompted to sign in again, click the box labeled “Use NT Authentication?”.
Click Login.
Click New.
Type the recipient’s fax number or email address directly into the text box. You can also use your Phonebook to choose a recipient by clicking To…
- Fax: If you want the fax sent to a fax machine, choose Fax from the drop-down menu. This option is selected by default.
- Fax Number: Enter the 5 digits for an on-campus number, 7-1-area code-number for long distance numbers, and 7-area code-number for local numbers.
- Email: If you want the fax to be sent as an email, choose Email from the drop-down menu and enter the recipient’s information. Then click Add → Close. You will then need to enter an E-mail Subject.
Enter a message to the recipient in the box labeled Fax Cover Notes.
- The information you enter here will appear on the cover page. Even if you choose to send the fax as an email, the information you enter into this box will not be included in the email message body.
To attach the file, you want to fax, click Attachments.
Click Browse… and select the file you want to attach.
Click Open.
- If you want to attach more files, repeat steps 8-9.
Click Upload.
Click Close.
Click Send.
Your fax will be sent. If you sent the fax to a fax machine, you will receive a confirmation email when your fax is successfully delivered.
Sending a Fax using RightFax FaxUtil
To send a fax in the desktop client, RightFax FaxUtil, do the following:
Open RightFax FaxUtil.
Click New Fax.
In the Name field, enter the recipient’s name.
In the Fax Number field, enter the fax number.
- If you want to send the fax to an email address, click the down arrow and select E-mail Address. Then enter the recipient’s email address.
Click Cover Sheet Notes and enter a message to the recipient.
- Because of the way notes are added to the cover sheet, text lines in this field do not wrap. Press Enter to move the cursor to the next line.
Click Attachments.
Click the paper clip icon.
Browse to the file you want to fax.
Click Attach.
Click Send.
Your fax will be sent. If you sent the fax to a fax machine, you will receive a confirmation email when your fax is successfully delivered.
Receiving Faxes
When receiving faxes via email from RightFax, the cover sheet and fax will be provided as attachments. The body of the email message will be blank. To view the cover sheet and fax, download the attachments.
Faxes sent to a fax machine via RightFax will be processed in the same way as other faxes. The fax will be printed with the cover sheet.
