Add or Change a Payment Method in Student Accounts

As a student, you can add and remove payment methods used to pay University charges in the Student Accounts website.

Before You Begin

As a student, you can add and remove payment methods within the Student Accounts website. A payment method is associated with a bank account and can be used to make payments to Illinois State University and also to receive refunds from the University. Add a Payment Method

To add a payment method in the Student Accounts website, do the following:

  1. Log in to My.IllinoisState.edu.
  2. Click the Finances at the top of the page.
  3. Click Student Accounts in the Finances section.
  4. Under the heading Activity - Fall 2015 and Beyond, in the statement, “To view student account information in your Student Center, Log in here.”, click the word here.
  5. Enter your ULID and password. Click Sign In.
  6. On the Welcome page, click Student Service Center in the blue bar at the top of the page.
  7. In the Student Service Center, find the blue shaded area on the right side of the page labeled Student Accounts. Click Review Account Details.
  8. On the Student Accounts website, select the My Account tab at the top of the page.
  9. In the My Account tab, select the Payment Methods sub-tab.
  10. On the Payment Methods page, click Add New Payment Method.
  11. Click the arrow next to Select Payment Method to select Electronic Check (checking/savings) from the drop-down menu. Then click Select.
  12. On the Add New Payment Method page, you must provide a description of the account, as well as the required account information, including the account type, routing number, bank account number, and name on the account. If you choose to use this account to receive refunds from the University, put a check mark in the box under Refund Options. Refer to the following article:
  1. Click Continue.
  2. When the Agreement window opens, read the agreement and put a check mark next to I Agree. Then click Continue.
  3. On the Payment Methods page, the payment method will appear as a Saved Payment Method. You have successfully added the payment method.

Remove a Payment Method

To remove a payment method in the Student Account Center, do the following:

  1. Go to the My Illinois State web portal at https://my.illinoisstate.edu/
  2. Click Central Login and enter your ULID and password. Click Sign In. If you are already signed into Central Login, you may skip this step.
  3. Select the Student tab at the top of the page.
  4. Click on Student Accounts in the Finances section.
  5. Under the heading Activity - Fall 2015 and Beyond, in the statement, “To view student account information in your Student Center, Log in here.”, click the word here.
  6. Enter your ULID and password. Click Sign In.
  7. On the Welcome page, click Student Service Center in the blue bar at the top of the page.
  8. In the Student Service Center, find the blue shaded area on the right side of the page labeled Student Accounts. Click Review Account Details.
  9. On the Student Accounts website, select the My Account tab.
  10. In the My Account tab, select the Payment Methods sub-tab.
  11. Next to the Saved Payment Method you would like to remove, click Delete.
  12. Click OK when you are asked “Are you sure you want to remove your Primary Checking profile permanently?”
  13. You have successfully removed the payment method.
