Add and Remove Speed Dial Phone Numbers on your Cisco IP Phone

You can add and remove speed dial phone numbers for use with abbreviated dialing through the Cisco Unified Communications Self Care Portal.

Before You Begin

Your VoIP phone can be configured to use speed dial phone numbers. To manage your VoIP phone's speed dials, you must log in to the Cisco Unified Communications Self Care Portal.

Programmable Buttons on Cisco IP Phone

Most campus VoIP phones include programmable buttons which are located on the right side of the phone. The instructions below do not apply to these programmable buttons.

If you want to program these buttons on your Cisco IP phone to dial phone numbers of your choosing, you must Submit a Service Request Ticket.

Add a Speed Dial

To add a speed dial phone number, do the following:

  1. Go to https://voip.ilstu.edu/ucmuser/ and log in with your ULID and password.
    1a. If you receive a message about an Untrusted Certificate, click to proceed to the site anyway.
    1b. If you are off-campus, you must first connect through a VPN before you can access the Cisco Unified Communications Self Care Portal through the above link in step 1.

  2. Under the My Phones tab, click My Phones, and select your phone from the options on the right.
  3. Click Phone Settings Speed Dial Numbers Add New Speed Dial.
  4. Enter a phone number in the Number/URI field.
  5. Enter a short description in the Label field.
  6. Enter the speed dial number in the Speed Dial field.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Save.

After a moment, your VoIP phone will be updated. You may notice your phone’s display flash briefly as this happens.

Remove a Speed Dial

To remove a speed dial phone number, do the following:

  1. Go to https://voip.ilstu.edu/ucmuser/ and log in with your ULID and password.

  2. Under the Phones tab, click My Phones, and select your phone from the options on the right.
  3. Click Phone Settings Speed Dial Numbers.
  4. Click the X next to the speed dial phone number you want to delete.
  5. Click Yes.
  6. Click Save.

After a moment, your VoIP phone will be updated. You may notice your phone’s display flash briefly as this happens.
