Last modified 3/5/2026

Airpass is a carrier-based wireless network available throughout the Illinois State University campus. It provides an alternative to the Illinois State University gust wireless network, allowing visitors with a compatible mobile carrier to connect to the internet without needing to create a guest account or navigate a login portal.

Airpass is intended for Guests of the university and is not intended to replace isunet or eduroam. Illinois State University students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to continue using isunet or eduroam for the best experience and full access to university resources.

Connecting to the Airpass Network

Note: If your device is already configured for isunet or eduroam, it will not automatically connect to the Airpass network, this is expected behavior. You must manually select "airpass" from your device's list of available wireless networks.

Step 1: Connect to the Airpass Network

  1. On your device, open Wi-Fi Settings and ensure Wi-Fi is turned on.
  2. Select airpass from the list of available wireless networks.
  3. Your device will authenticate automatically using your carrier credentials. No username or password is required.

Step 2: Enable Wi-Fi Calling (Recommended)

While a standard internet connection will work once you are connected to Airpass, enabling Wi-Fi calling on your device allows you to make phone calls and send text messages over the network. This is especially useful in larger campus buildings where cellular signal may be weak.

iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
  4. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling on this iPhone to the on position.

  2. Tap Connections ( or Network & Internet, depending on your device).

Steps may vary depending on your Android device manufacturer and software version.
