What is a Screenshot?
A screenshot, sometimes referred to as a screencap or screengrab, is an image that shows the content of a computer or phone's display. Screenshots let you capture exactly what you're seeing on your screen and are often shared with others or used as a reference point later on.
- Windows Screenshot
Windows has a built-in feature called "Snipping tool". To use it, press on the Windows on your keyboard and type in the search bar "Snipping tool". You should then see the following icon and click on it. It will display a small window with tools to use and options of how to want to take a screen shot
You may also use the following keyboard shortcut Windows Logo Key + Shift + S, which will activate the snipping tool and you can choose how you want to capture your screenshot.

You can capture the entire screen, a window, or just a portion of the screen.
How to take a screenshot on your Mac
- To take a screenshot, press and hold these three keys together: Shift + Command + 3
- If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.
How to capture a portion of the screen
- Press and hold these three keys together: Shift+ Command + 4
- Drag the crosshair to select the area of the screen to capture. To move the selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging. To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
- To take the screenshot, release your mouse or trackpad button
- If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.
How to capture a window or menu
- Open the window or menu that you want to capture.
- Press and hold these keys together: Shift + Command + 4 + Space bar. The pointer changes to a camera icon. To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
- Click the window or menu to capture it. To exclude the window's shadow from the screenshot, press and hold the Option key while you click.
- If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.
- ChromeOS Screenshot and Screen Record
You can take a screenshot or record a video of your Chromebook's screen. After your capture your screen, you can view, edit, delete, and share the image or video.

- If your Chromebook has it, press the Screenshot key
- If your Chromebook doesn't have a Screenshot key, press Shift + Ctrl + show windows
- If your external keyboard doesn't have a Show windows key , press Ctrl + Shift + F5.
- In the menu at the bottom, select Screenshot
- Select an option:
- Take a full screen screenshot
- Take a partial screenshot
- Take a window screenshot
Record your screen
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows (IMAGE OF SHOW WINDOWS)
- in the menu at the bottom, select Screen record (IMAGE OF RECORD ICON)
- Select an option:
- Record the full screen
- Record a partial screen
- Record a window
- To stop recording, at the bottom right, select Stop recording

- Do one of the following:
- On an iPhone with Face ID: Simultaneously press and then release the side button and volume up button
- On an iPhone with a Home button: Simultaneously press and release the Home Button and side button.
- Tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap Done
- Choose Save to Photos, Save to Files, or Delete Screenshot
Save full-page screenshot as PDF
- Do one of the following:
- On an iPhone with Face ID: Simultaneously press and then release the side button and volume up button
- On an iPhone with a Home button: Simultaneously press and release the Home Button and side button.
- Tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap Full Page.
- Do any of the following:
- Save the screenshot: Tap Done, choose Save PDF to Files, choose a location, the tap Save
- Share the screenshot: Tap (ICON OF SHARING) , choose a sharing option (for example, Airdrop, Messages, or Mail), enter any other requested information, then send to PDF.
Screen Recording
- Go to settings > Control Center, then tap (PLUS ICON) next to Screen Recording.
- Open Control Center, tap (ICON TO RECORD) then wait for the three-second countdown.
- To stop recording, open Control Center, tap (RED RECORD ICON) or the red status bar at the top of the screen, then tap stop
Go to Photos, then select your screen recording.
- Android Screenshot
The easiest way to take a screenshot on your device is to simply hold down the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously. The exact locations of these buttons will depend on your device.
