Statistical Analysis Software Available to Faculty, Staff, and Students
Last modified 11/19/2024
The University maintains licenses to a variety of statistical analysis software packages. All of the software below is available to faculty, staff, and students.
Virtual Apps
The software listed below can all be accessed via Azure Virtual Desktop. Please see the following article on how to access this: How to use Azure Virtual Desktop
Minitab
Individual faculty, staff, or students should send Minitab requests to TechZone at techzonesales@ilstu.edu. Instructors may submit an entire roster of students for classroom use. An email will be sent with details on accessing Minitab when the request has been fulfilled. Requests need to be renewed each academic year. Minitab may be used on both Windows and Mac computers via an online version, and a downloadable Windows version is also available. Registered users may also access Minitab through the virtual computer lab at https://virtualapps.illinoisstate.edu/. The current version of Minitab is 22.
SPSS
SPSS contains many add-ons and optional programs. The base SPSS program (versions 27, 28, 29, and 30) plus custom tables and forecasting modules are available. SPSS may be used on institutional devices, such as University-issued laptops for graduate students in teaching or research roles or in any Lab. You can install SPSS on a university-owned device from Software Center. For installation assistance, please get in touch with your IT department. Off-campus faculty and staff users can get a non-key-server manual code, but this option should be used sparingly. Contact TechZone at techzonesales@ilstu.edu for more information on this option. Students can access SPSS at https://virtualapps.illinoisstate.edu/ at no cost.
SAS
A downloadable version of SAS is available to faculty and staff for Windows computers only. Version 9.4 is the current version of SAS. SAS can be downloaded on university-owned devices via Software Center. For installation assistance, please get in touch with your IT department. You will need to contact your IT department each year for updated SAS codes. SAS may only be installed on ISU-owned devices. If you require SAS access on a personal device, please log in to https://virtualapps.illinoisstate.edu/ instead.
