Setting a Standard Workday for your Calendar in Outlook

Last modified 7/29/2024

You can choose the days of the week that are a part of your work week, the time when your work day starts and ends, and the day of the week that you want to be the start of your week.

Before You Begin

Your Exchange calendar in Outlook is set to use the default workday, which runs from 8:00am to 5:00pm. You can change the workday so it reflects your actual work hours, such as 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Set Up a Standard Workday

To set a standard workday in Outlook, use the following directions:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click the Calendar link.
  3. Click File Options
    • Outlook 2011: Click Outlook Preferences…
  4. Click Calendar in the Outlook Options pop-up box.
  5. Enter the “Start time” and “End time”.
  6. Check the “Work week boxes” that apply to your work schedule.
  7. Click OK (You do not need to click OK in Outlook 2011).
