Audio Descriptions with YouDescribe.org

YouDescribe.org offers a way to describe on-screen text, scene changes, and body language without changing or redistributing existing YouTube videos. Before using You Describe make sure your computer's microphone is working. NOTE: Try using Chrome first. If there are issues, try Firefox.
Step 1. Sign up
Sign-up for an account at YouDescribe.org by logging in with a Google (gmail) account.
Step 2. Search
In the search box, type the title of a YouTube video you want to describe. If a video with audio description matching your search criteria already exists, it will appear in the top section of the page under the Described Videos heading. If not, videos matching your search criteria will be listed in the bottom half of the page under the Non-Described Videos heading. Locate your video among the lists and select it.
Step 4. Add Description
If your video needs to have description added, choose the Describe button below the video.
Step 5. Watch the video
Carefully watch the video and make notes about what you see and want to say in the Notes section on the right of the screen.
Step 6. Choose Description Type
Once you finish your initial viewing of the video, go back to the beginning of the video.
Add Inline: Choose Add Inline button if you have time to speak the description while the video continues forward.
Add Extended: Choose Add extended button if you need the video to pause momentarily so that you can speak the description.
Step 7. Record Description
Select the Record Button (red dot icon) and speak your description into the microphone. Once you are done speaking, choose the Stop button (square icon) to stop the recording. Save often.
Step 8. Publish.
Select Publish. Copy and paste the YouDescribe link of your video wherever you’d like it to go – the audio description of the video can only be viewed on the YouDescribe page.
