Sign Up for Electronic Refunds in Student Accounts

Before You Begin

As a student, you can sign up to receive electronic refunds in the Student Accounts website. You can use either an existing account (which you might have set up for automatic payments), or you can specify a new one. When the University refunds you money, it will automatically be deposited into account you specify. You can change or remove the account used for refunds at any time. Sign Up for Electronic Refunds

To sign up for electronic refunds in the Student Accounts website, please do the following:

  1. Go to the My Illinois State web portal at https://my.illinoisstate.edu/
  2. Click Central Login and enter your ULID and password. Click Sign In. If you are already signed into Central Login, you may skip this step.
  3. Select the Student tab at the top of the page.
  4. Click on Student Accounts in the Finances section.
  5. Under the heading Activity - Fall 2015 and Beyond, in the statement, “To view student account information in your Student Center, Log in here.”, click Here.
  6. Enter your ULID and password. Click Sign In.
  7. On the Welcome page, click Student Service Center in the blue bar at the top of the page.
  8. In the Student Service Center, find the blue shaded area on the right side of the page labeled Student Accounts. Click Review Account Details.
  9. On the Student Accounts website, select the eRefunds tab near the top of the page.
  10. On the eRefunds page, click Set up Account.
  11. In the Set Up Refund Account window, do one of the following:
    11a. If you already have an account set up in the Student Account Center, you can use this account for electronic refunds. To do so, select the account and click 
    Continue.
    11b. If you would like to add a new account, select 
    Set up a new account. Select the account type and provide the routing number, bank account number, and name on the account. Then enter a description of the account in the field labeled, Save payment method as (e.g. Primary Checking). Then click Continue. When the Set Up Refund Account agreement window appears, read the agreement, and put a check mark next to I Agree. Then click Continue.
  12. The account you specified will now appear as the Direct Deposit Bank Account on the eRefunds page. You have successfully signed up to receive electronic refunds using the account you selected.

Remove a Refund Account

To remove a refund account in the Student Accounts website, please do the following:

  1. Log in to My.IllinoisState.edu via Central Login.

  2. Select the Student tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click on Student Accounts in the Finances section.
  4. Under the heading Activity - Fall 2015 and Beyond, is the statement, “To view student account information in your Student Center, log in here.” Click the word, "here".
  5. Enter your email address and password. 
  6. Click Sign In.
  7. On the Welcome page, click Student Service Center in the blue bar at the top of the page.
  8. In the Student Service Center, find the blue shaded area on the right side of the page labeled Student Accounts. Click Review Account Details.
  9. On the Student Accounts website, click the eRefunds tab near the top of the page.
  10. On the eRefunds page, under Direct Deposit Bank Account, click Remove.
  11. Your account will no longer appear on the eRefunds page, and you will see the message, “No account has been set up.”

Important

This steps above will remove the account as a designated eRefund Direct Deposit Bank Account. If this account was previously set up as a payment method in the Student Accounts website, it will still be present there and can still be used to make payments on tuition charges.


Changing Refund Accounts

You can only designate one account at a time to use for electronic refunds. To change the account used for refunds, you must first remove the existing account, as described in the Remove a Refund Account section above. Then, you can designate another account as your Direct Deposit Bank Account, as described in the Sign Up for Electronic Refunds section above.
